Three Amazing Days of Workshops

is
calling
on
all
aspiring
blacksmiths,
coopers
and
leatherworkers
to
take
part
in
a
series
of
“Rare
Trade”
workshops
to
be
held
at
the
10th
Biennial
Queensland
Heritage
Rally
on
the
19th,
20th
&
21st July 2024.
BLACKSMITHING WORKSHOPS
Martin
Geddes
from
Geddes
Blacksmithing
Queensland
is
returning
this
year
to
host
three
“ABC
of
Tong
Making”
workshops.
Encompassing
many
of
techniques
and
skill
sets
all
metalworking
enthusiasts
need,
these
workshops
will
provide
participants
with
the
skills
and
knowledge
to
create
integral
tools
for
blacksmithing
and
will
provide
you
with
the opportunity to build the basis of you own tong collection.
COOPERING WORKSHOPS
Artisan, David Harriman from Colonial Woodcrafts will be introducing
that art of coopering through full day bucket making workshops on
each day of the event. After this workship you will not only take
home your bucket, but also the knowledge of how to design and
construct you own wooden vessels.
LEATHERWORKING WORKSHOPS
Terri
&
Nathan
Lee
from
TJ’s
Leathercraft
will
be
hosting
three
belt
making
workshops
during
the
rally.
This
is
a
full
belt
making
experience.
You
will
learn
about
the
different
types
of
hide
and
how
to
select
leather,
cutting,
punching,
embossing
and
dyeing.
You’ll
also
learn
how
to
finish
your
belt
by
bevelling
and
burnishing
the
edges
and
by
stitching/setting
the
hardware.
By
the
end
of
the
day,
you’ll
be
taking
home
a
premium
quality
belt
made
by
you
that will last for many years to come.
